Old & New Fabrics & a Woolly Monkey

A few weeks ago we visited my husband's aunt who lives a few hours away.  We stayed the night at her place, and she pulled out some quilts that were my husband's great-grandmother's quilts.
These quilts were ever so carefully pieced together & were so lovely!!
These quilts were sewn with remnant fabrics and were, of course, all sewn by hand.

I received my winning fabrics in the mail.
Here's the bundle of fabric (5 yards total) that I won from Toads U Sew.
Isn't this fabric just lovely??!!

Included with the 5 yards of fabric was also a small pattern booklet.

I recently have been doing crocheting or knitting in the evenings while sitting beside my husband, and chatting or watching tv.
One of my evening projects: A crocheted sock monkey.

I played around with a few blocks of the black & white fabric...
Nine-patch with white/light in the corners, black in between and red in the middle.

I'm not sure how I'll piece these blocks together: sew them together as 1 large quilt or place sashing in between the quilt blocks.

I also received my 2nd winning fabric pack:
A Layer Cake, "Modern Workshop" by Liesl Gibson for Oliver + S which I won from Moose on the Porch Quilts
I have many other projects to finish, so that will give me time to decide how I will use these fabrics.

Addicted to Quilting

Found this quilting poem on a blog... love it.

Addicted to Quilting

She Learned to Quilt on MONDAY.
Her stitches all were fine
She forgot to make us dinner
So we all went out to dine

She quilted miniatures on TUESDAY
she says they are a must
They really were quite lovely
But She forgot to dust

On WEDNESDAY it was a sampler.
She says stippling’s fun
What Highlights What Shadows!
But The LAUNDRY was’nt done

Nine Patches were on Thursday
Green,Yellow,Blue and red.
I guess she really was engrossed
She never made the Bed.

It was wall hangings on Friday.
In colors she adores
It never bothered her at all
That crumbs were on the floor

I found a maid on SATURDAY
My week is now complete
My wife can quilt the hours away
The house will still be neat

Well, now its only SUNDAY
I think I,m about to wilt
I cursed,I raved,I ranted
Cause the Maid has learned to QUILT !

This Week's Quilt Blocks

Yesterday I did a few quilt blocks...

The final block for P2QA called "Pyramids" - it was a bugger to put together.
The lighting is strange on this photo, but here are all 12 blocks for P2QA.
Tuesday morning I attended the "Care 4 U Quilts" event; my church sponsors this event, and women of all ages get together to do quilting & the quilts are donated to cancer patients.
I have never done paper-piecing, but this was one of my tasks. I took some extra sheets & fabric home to "practice" some more paper-piecing hearts.

Mini Lollipop Quilt

I had quite a bit of little pieces of fabric leftover from my Layer Cake Quilt Along, so I stitched them together in strips (1", 1.5", 2" & 3").

This little quilt measures 22 1/2" x 32 1/2".
This is what the backside looked like. I added a "Wilma's Craft Corner" tag to the top left.
Ok, I now admit I'm not too good at keeping the backside straight.
Next quilt(s): simple backing fabric so I won't have to worry about being centred. :)

I think I'll sell this little quilt... hmmm... how much to sell it for????

Lollipop Quilt is Done!!

This week I finished my "Lollipop" quilt!! I just looove this quilt!!

This was the Layer Cake Quilt Along using Sandy Gervais's line of fabric called "Lollipops". It is such a happy, fun quilt.
I did some free-motion loopy-doop loops.
The back panel is a tad "off" - ie, not centred, but I love it nonetheless.
I also caught up on my blocks:

The April "Star Sampler" block
4 blocks for the P2QA (Patchwork Squared Modern Solids Quilt Along):

"Stacked"
"Tailspin"
"4 Wheeler"
"Air Castle"

The colours look different from the first 2 P2QA blocks to the last 2 blocks... different camera & different light... & no photo editing (just cropping).

And finally, here is a photo of a little baby hat I crocheted a few weeks ago & have been forgetting to add to the blog. It has been years since I have crocheted, and it is the first hat I have ever crocheted. It's not perfect, but it was good practice.

I Won... AGAIN!!!!!

Today was VERY exciting...

I found out that I won a Layer Cake (40 - 10"x10" fabric bundle) from Moose Quilts for my "Lollipops" Layer Cake Quilt Along. I finished the binding yesterday and I just LOVE that quilt!!

Check out the link to my "win":

A few minutes later I received an email informing me that I won fabric. I was a bit confused, but then I realized what was happening: I had entered my name in a draw for black & white fabric a few days ago. Chloe from Toad U Sew asked people what colour would compliment black & white... my answer was the classic red. Well, the random organizer picked me!!! Yes, me... the one who NEVER wins ANYthing!!!

Here's a picture of the 5 yards of Montage Fabric by Benartex that I won!!

Now I will need a pattern for this lovely stash of fabric. Oh yes, I will be adding some red to it.

Wow, oh wow - how exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Imagine that... two wins in one day!!!
(3 wins in the last month... I guess that might be it for wins for a long while.)
